With live streaming being the latest fad in the social networking world, social media platforms are doing all they can to tap its potential. Twitter has launched a new Notification button on its app that alerts you when someone you follow starts live-streaming.
The feature works both for notifying users to new streams from Periscope, as well as for content from Twitter’s live streaming partners, such as the NFL.
The micro-blogging site explains that the new button will appear at the top-right of the screen, next to the Follow button on a user’s Profile. You can tap this button to subscribe to alerts from the Twitter user in question. When doing so, a dialog box that appears that lets you choose to receive notifications on “All Tweets,” or choose “Only tweets with live video.” You can also switch off notifications entirely by selecting “None.”
From there, whenever the account you follow goes live, you'll get a notification, so you can rush over to Twitter to "join the live experience as it unfolds," Twitter said in its announcement.

There was one more announcement for the live videos. Twitter has announced a partnership with the live news and entertainment company Cheddar to stream two new business-focused programs- Opening Bell and Closing Bell.
Another piece of news from the Twitter house is for those who have always felt that micro-blogging site’s character limit doesn’t let them pack their desired content in the tweets. A report from The Verge says that Twitter is introducing new changes to be activated on September 19th, according to which it will no longer count media attachments such as gifs, pictures, video and polls against the message's 140-character limit.
Apparently, user names at the start of the message will also supposedly not count against the limit either.
Twitter is leaving no stones unturned to improve its stagnant user base and revenue. Hopefully, all the measures that the company is taking will materialize into something productive on papers.
