Addressing a ‘Knowledge Session’ at the C-Change 2008, Bagachi said, “Earlier about 7-8 years ago, infrastructure investment and application investments had been the key for any enterprise, but information was not looked as a separate entity.”

However, the rampant growth witnessed by enterprises in unstructured information has changed the whole landscape.

He informed that IBM has recently announced IBM Information Server to enable clients to deliver trusted, consistent and reusable information to applications and business processes.

Today the need to make information available at a time when it is required, has gained crucial importance.

However, most enterprises have software that can handle only a few applications. So the question that is in every CIO’s mind is how to incorporate unstructured information.

In fact, over the last five years, IBM has acquired companies across the globe to handle large databases, web content manager for images and analytics.

As a combination of all these applications, IBM has unveiled an information bus termed as IBM Information Server.

“The acquisitions are made by IBM over the last few years including Cognos to address all the information challenges. Now we are delivering trusted information to optimize business processes, applications and productivity,” Bagachi said.
