NEW DELHI: Cisco Systems introduced the Cisco Unified Communications (CUC) system, a new suite of voice, data and video products and applications specially designed to help organisations to communicate more effectively.

The system allows customers to integrate their communications system with their IT infrastructure, streamlining business processes.

Speaking at the launch, Gary Coman, head, IP Communications of CISCO Asia-Pacific, said that based on the Cisco Service-Oriented Network Architecture (SONA), this system is an open and extensible platform for real time communications based on presence, mobility and the intelligent information network.

"This is the first true second-generation Internet Protocol (IP) communications system providing more than the telephone service. It provides a rich communication environment that seamlessly integrates voice, video and data collaboration in one single system making processes more compact and easier," said Ranajoy Punja, vice-president Marketing, Cisco Systems India and SAARC.

Punja said that by using the IT data network as the service delivery platform, the system helps workers to reach the right resource the first time by delivering presence and preference information to organisation's employees. He said that CUC delivers greater business benefits to enterprises by optimizing applications, processes and resources.

The company is also planning to bring in to market single and dual mode Smartphone solutions in alliance with wireless handset suppliers such as Nokia and Reliance. According to the company it would drive productivity of mobile enterprise employees both inside and outside office.

Cisco has also added some new applications and products to its Unified Communication system range, which includes Cisco Unified Personal Communicator, Cisco Unified Presence Server and Customer Interaction Analyzer.
