UniCredit selects Giesecke & Devrient for payment solutions

MUNICH, GERMANY: Giesecke & Devrient (G&D) has been selected by UniCredit as main supplier for the supply of electronic payment system solutions in UniCredit´s largest markets. A two-year contract was put out to tender and will be effective as of January 1, 2014.

G&D will be a strategic partner for UniCredit providing G&D´s newest generation of EMV cards, including dual-interface cards. UniCredit is an internationally active financial institution and one of Europe's biggest banks, with 150,000 employees.

Besides supplying state-of-the-art debit and credit cards to multiple banks of the UniCredit, G&D is able to provide a wide range of services including technical consultancy and card personalization. By prolonging the existing contracts the successful partnership between Giesecke & Devrient and UniCredit, can further grow.

UniCredit stated that they were looking for a global solutions provider with a wide portfolio of innovative products who could offer them the highest levels of quality and reliability at a competitive price.

Winning this business confirms G&D´s leading market position in Italy, Poland and Germany which are also UniCredit's most important markets. UniCredit has strong roots in 20 European countries and an international network of more than 9,200 branches - including the largest international branch network in central and eastern Europe with 3,700 branches.
