Umaid Bhawan Palace bags the IT Power User Award

JODHPUR: The CIOL SMB Forum's — Business Advantage Seminar, in association with Jodhpur Industries association was held on the 19th of January 2005 in Shree Ram International Hotel, Jodhpur. Over 100 senior management from various industrial verticals in and around Jodhpur attended this seminar. With IT implementation becoming mandatory in every organization, the attendees were keen to learn how to use technology effectively and how to get better returns on their investments.

Umaid Bhawan Palace, the luxury palace-resort in Jodhpur, was awarded the `IT Power User Award', at the CIOL SMB Forum networking event held in Jodhpur. They had been identified as the winner on the basis of their adoption of IT, which has had a very positive impact on the day-to-day operations of the hotel.

Computerisation of most of the processes in the hotel right from the front office to purchase, housekeeping as well as room services has resulted in a more effective and easy work system. The implementation of IT has enabled the hotel in reducing inventory, thereby reducing wastage and cutting additional manpower costs.

“We have been able to save on manpower and also save a lot of time, which in turn has helped us increase our productivity. All this has happened after automation of the entire hotel,” said, Brahmanand Singh, Head-IT, Umaid Bhawan palace.

The event in Jodhpur saw eminent speakers like Anil Agarwal, Hon. Secretary, Jodhpur Industries Association delivered the keynote address, He addressed the participants on how technology can bring profits to business. “The city has a lot of industries in and around Jodhpur. Each of the industries use various levels of technology and sharing their experiences is necessary as this will benefit the industrial community to grow better” he said. Girish Joshi, Intel highlighted the new technology and also spoke about One Generation Ahead with Intel. It was an interactive session, with the audience. The participants wanted to know more about the latest technologies. Mr. Mehraj Lohiya, President, Udyog Prakash, delivered the valedictory note.

Till date there have been 20 winners of this award from across the country, from across the verticals. A few of these winners are Cera Sanitarywares, Ahmedabad, Monali Developers, Vadodara, Varun Motors, Vishakapatanam, GTN Textiles, Kochi etc.
