PUNE: UGS, a PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) solutions company, would use Geolus in two-pronged ways in future rollouts.

Geolus, a search engine for geometric shapes that UGS acquired some time back, would be integrated into the next version of its flagship product, Teamcentre.

"We would also use it as a key technology piece that we can license separately. It would, alongside, be integrated in the Teamcentre portfolio," said Vivek Marwaha, country-marketing manager, UGS.

Dieter Klinke, product-marketing director-Asia Pacific, added that UGS is bullish on NX5, "We expect a very high level of acceptability for NX5 from the market and the new version will satisfy different users in various roles in the same organization at a time."

He was here to showcase Version 5 of NX software, the next-generation of UGS' digital product development software that the company announced worldwide in April.

Talking about the new features in NX5, Klinker pointed out Intelligent selection controls, direct modeling extensions, configurable- role-based user interfaces along with structured, consistent input dialogs and Active Mockup as some exciting additions. "Active Mockup unites digital mockup and design in a single application that accelerates the review-to-modification process," he explained.

NX5 is being rolled with a region-wise launch in India that would next entail Bangalore and Chennai. India follows international launches in Germany, Detroit and Tokyo.

Marwaha also told that PDM (Product Data Management), where the company claims market dominance, would be the next thrust area for its mid-market strategy with special price-packages and efforts to make adoption easy.
