UAE's Etisalat Q3 profit rises 5 pct

ABU DHABI, UAE: Emirates Telecommunications Corp  posted a third-quarter profit attributable to shareholders of 2.254 billion dirhams ($613.7 million), up 5 percent from the same quarter last year.

It made a net profit of 2.145 billion dirhams in the third quarter of 2008, according to the statement.

The lender made a net profit of 6.847 billion dirhams in the first nine months of the year.
