BANGALORE: Tyco Electronics, a 100 per cent subsidiary of Tyco International, a global major in electronics components manufacturing, plans to launch a new product line in structured cabling segment in India by January. AMPTRAC intelligent cable management tracking system and the iTRACS management software, which were launched globally last month, are slated to be released here in January.

Said K.K. Shetty, Country Manager, AMP Netconnect, Tyco Electronics, " the implementation of ICMS is through sensors in the modular patch panels. It has standards based for maximum interoperability. This solution goes a long way to reduce and streamline running costs."

The software component of ICMS, 'iTRACS', allows the user to view and manage the network visually in real time. The application is web-enabled to query and manage the system through the Internet or direct dial access.

Currently, the company has 80 direct installation partners such as Ingram Micro, Compuwitch, Tech Pacific, CMC and others. Besides they provide training for AMPNET certification for people that enables them to set up their own enterprises or start as system integrators. It has trained 700 certified engineers so far. The training center, which is currently based in Bangalore, is expected to extend to Bombay and Delhi facilities also.

According to Shetty, the company has a 40 per cent market share in structured cabling segment in India, with a turnover of $47 million. It spends around 12 per cent of its sales revenue on R&D. In India it has a manufacturing facility at Pune, Bangalore and Cochin.

On the AMP Netconnect division plans, he says the company is optimistic of a 50 per cent growth this year with target revenue of Rs.120 crores.
