Twitter traffic slows down in US: CEO

SAN FRANCISCO, USA: Microblogging phenomenon Twitter Inc., which is yet to make any revenue, is still spending 97 per cent of its time improving the product, rather than finding ways to make money, chief executive officer Evan Williams said here on Tuesday.

Though the traffic growth of twitter.com has slowed temporarily in the U.S. Williams spoke optimistically about the future of the microblogging service.

“The number of interesting things we can do with Twitter is just endless. It just blows my mind,” he said during a chat with John Battelle on the opening day of a Web 2.0 Summit here.

The Twitter co-founder said that he was seeing accelerating growth in other areas such as mobile platforms and international users.

He said the current top five international active user groups were US, UK, Brazil, Japan, Indonesia. “Indonesia has been growing like crazy lately,” he added.

Twitter had recently received $100 million in funding on, valuing the company at $1 billion.
