Twitter to monetize its product pages

MUMBAI, INDIA: Twitter is going aggressive on the product front. It has decided to monetize its product pages!!!

The company is launching product and place pages that allow users to discover and purchase products within the service.

While it will allow the product companies to place the new launches on these pages, it will also encourage users to paste reviews about the brands and will voice those to the Twitterati via tweets.

A product page will let people see others’ tweets about the product, its pricing and also offer a buy button, Twitter said. However, the buy button would not be offered for all the products.

For this, the company is rolling out Collections, a window for brands and celebrities to curate products and recommend them to followers.

It must be recalled that this is Twitter’s second new after announcing Project Lightning, a news platform that would allow users to follow events instead of people, last week.
