Twitter has announced to discontinue its services for the TweetDeck Windows app from 15th April 2016 forcing the PC users to rely on the web version instead.“To better focus on enhancing your TweetDeck experience, we’ll no longer support a standalone Windows app,” project manager Amy Zima wrote in a blog post without giving any strong reason for the move.

TweetDeck was purchased by Twitter in 2011. The download option of the app has already disappeared from Twitter and from mid next month, users will no longer be able to log in, the company has confirmed. The Chrome and Mac apps, however, stay untouched.

The shutting down has left many users disappointed who were fans of the app's grid-like view, which lets you organize Twitter into a series of columns for things such as mentions, notifications, and lists.

As part of the company’s log-in revamp, it says that logged-in users to any Twitter website — http://www.twitter.com or its analytics page — will no longer need to log in to TweetDeck separately.

For those who were having few complaints that Twitter was not doing much for TweetDeck, the social media giant in the same blog post said that "We've been working on infrastructure projects like this to ensure we have a stable foundation to continue improving TweetDeck in the future."
