Twitter gaffe: Gujarat Congress mourns Nelson Mandela 'death'

In what could be embarrassing for the central leadership, is the the Twitter faux pas that led GCC (Gujrat Congress Committee) to issue a press-release, based on rumors doing rounds at microblogging site on the demise of South African leader Nelson Mandela.

South African officials, however say that 94-year old Mandela is on life support, and his condition remain critical. Rumors have flooded the Internet and social networks with sources revealing that he had died yesterday.

The state Congress party issued in its release condoling the demise of Mandela added that Gujarat Congress have deep sorrow and offer respect to the departed soul and The release was however signed by spokesperson J Parmar.

There have been several tweets pouring in since yesterday that say: #Nelson Mandela dead. R.I.P. to a great champion of humanity.
