In a bid to make its platform more user-friendly and attract new users, Jack Dorsey and his team have introduced many changes on Twitter in past few months. Walking along the same line, Twitter is now testing an important design change to its retweet and reply button.

Twitter is currently testing the new version of the button, which corresponds more to sharing than retweeting that has been introduced to the mobile apps, reports TechCrunch. This new button replaces the previous ‘two arrows’ retweet button with a circular ‘sharing’ button with just a single arrow in the middle.

The second change is for reply button that gets replaced by a speech bubble.

Notably, the sharing button now provides four options instead of previous two- “Retweet” and “Quote Tweet”. The two new additions to the tab are “Send by Direct Message’, ‘and Share Tweet’.

The introduction of the new icons as a test feature to a handful of Twitter mobile users has been confirmed by the company. “We’re testing new icons on Tweets to evaluate how this impacts the way that people use Twitter,” a spokesperson said.

The micro-blogging site that is currently reeling under a stagnation in customer base now aims at recapturing the interest of the general population by bringing its platform in tandem with other networking portals like Facebook that are much more user friendly and convenient.

It is for this reason that the company is experimenting with so many changes on its platform. The DM button, which looked like a message, has also been clubbed with the sharing button for the same reason.
