Tulip Telecom #1 in Indian MPLS/IP VPN mkt

NEW DELHI, INDIA: Tulip Telecom Limited, an enterprise communications service provider, was adjudged the leader in the Indian MPLS/IP VPN market for 2008 for the second consecutive year by global growth consulting company, Frost & Sullivan.

According to the report compiled by Frost & Sullivan, Tulip Telecom had a market share of 37.8 percent in the Indian MPLS/IP VPN segment, garnering an increase of over 8.4 percent from its market share of 29.4 percent last year.

The IP VPN/MPLS segment contributes 33.8 percent to the overall data services market and was estimated at Rs 5154 crores in FY 2007-08.

The report reflects the increased momentum in the MPLS/IP VPN adoption in the past few years. Despite being a relatively new player in this segment, Tulip Telecom has been successful in creating a niche for itself.
