Tulip rolls out 'Tulip Connect'

NEW DELHI: Tulip IT Services today announced the launch of the Multi Protocol Label Switching (MPLS) enabled Internet Protocol Virtual Network (IP/VPN)- 'Tulip Connect'.

Currently the data network covers over 350 Indian cities and has been set up with an investment of Rs. 180 crore. Managing director Tulip IT Services, H.S. Bedi said that the company is planning to expand the network to over 500 cities by the end of this year.

“To expand to 500 cities we will make an investment of Rs 38 crore in addition to Rs 180 crore. We intend to take connectivity to every small towns and to make it available for everyone,” Bedi said.

He claimed that Tulip Connect is the only network in India to offer last-mile connectivity entirely on wireless. The company will focus on providing data connectivity for banks, ATMs, connecting corporate houses with their branches, dealers and distribution network across the country.

“Tulip Connect offers an unparalleled, managed end-to-end MPLS enabled network that uses wireless connectivity for the last mile. This network provides reliable data connectivity that is managed for uptime and bandwidth, reliable, independent of the quality of infrastructure and supported for uptimes in excess of more than 99.5 percent,” Bedi said.

The company also announced plans to launch Level 3 Data Centres in Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai and Bangalore to enable customers to host their services and network equipment with ready availability of connectivity to all major service providers.

Tulip Connect is designed to provide both inter-city as well as intra-city connectivity. The inter-city network is based on optic fiber cable provided by multiple service providers.

The last mile connectivity is entirely based on wireless, using radio frequency technology in point-to-point and point-to-multipoint applications. In addition, Tulip will also provide value added services such as video conferencing services, dynamic bandwidth on demand and disaster recovery services.
