The news is now highly trending on social media as several eyewitnesses and concerned people have taken to Twitter and Facebook to obtain information on the incident.

''Late to tweet, was getting the family out of the house. That was some tremor. We were the only one out in our neighbourhood. Delhi is cool,'' says a tweet from someone who seems to have experienced the tremor.

''It was quite a shake, felt Earth quake in Delhi'' says a tweet from Milind Khandekar. ''This #earthquake was a little stronger and therefore scarier. Left building by the stairs and standing around outside with everybody else,'' says another tweet.

The news has also caused a lot of panic. Twiitteratis are advicing people on what one must do when hit by an earthquake. ''People take care of kids & elders, use stairs & emergency fire exits, stay outdoors for some time. Carry your backups in pocket!'' says one such tweet.

However, the positive news is that there are no immediate reports of any casualties. The quake measured 7.8 on the Richter scale at its epicentre on the Pakistan-Iran border.
