ELETECH 2010' organized by CII turned out to be an educational and innovative session for all those in attendance which included a host of telecom analysts, IT specialists and solutions providers.

While Peeyush Vaish, associate director, Ernst & Young introduced the day's agenda; Professor SN Merchant, IIT, Bombay inaugurated the day's first panel discussion on 'Designing of Telecom Solutions for Emerging And Growing Markets', speaking about the interaction between wireless and cellular technology and how it could be applied to motion sensors in mobiles.

Dr Ram Kashi of CMTS Multimedia Research and Avaya Labs Research elaborated further on the topic, talking about video-kiosks and simulation based projectors for m-education in villages, while Professor Subrat Kar of IIT, Delhi added to the discussion with thoughts on the next generation home-view networks and natural disaster advisory kiosks using motion-sensor technology routed through mobiles.

In the session that followed on 'Green Telecom Solutions', panelists discussed green solutions recommended by Trai like energy efficient radio networks, renewable energy for base stations, implementing an all-IP network for bandwidth reduction, infrastructure sharing by operators, and solar-powered mobile towers using the Ericsson example, and benefits of smart meters using motion sensor technology.
