Transcend releases tiny SATA Flash Module

NEW DELHI, INDIA: Flash memory products provider Transcend Information, Inc. has launched its latest industrial memory solution, a high-speed Serial ATA Flash Module in India.

The product is aimed at thin clients, blade servers, ultra-compact sub-notebooks and space-limited industrial installations.

The SATA flash module offers "solid-state reliability and speed in a lightweight compact package," the company said in a statement.

Its direct motherboard connection and low-profile design saves space and power compared to the conventional 2.5" and 3.5" SATA hard disk drives, it added.

Austin Huang, regional head - Sales, SAARC and APAC, Transcend, said: "With robust, non-volatile flash memory, the SATA flash module is ideal for use in harsher, more demanding industrial environments such as in industrial PCs, embedded systems, medical instruments, factory automation systems, network infrastructure and other industrial equipment."

The product has a built-in ECC (Error Correction Code) and an advanced wear leveling algorithm, ensuring reliable long-term data transfer and storage for professional computing applications.

Transcend uses only name brand SLC (Single-Level-Cell) NAND Flash chips in its SATA flash modules to guarantee fast read / write speeds and smooth, delay-free software operation.

The product retails at Rs 8,500.
