NEW DELHI: After the launch of the AOC brand monitors in the market, the TPV Technology has set a target to sell 2.5 lakh monitors in 2006.
Saurav Grover, manager, Sales and Marketing, AOC, said that till now they have been present in India as an original equipment manufacturer (OEM) but the growing demand of personal computers has prompted them to promote its own brand.
The company has launched its AOC brand in Mumbai early this month targeting to tap major market share in the monitor market.
“We have appointed a national distributor in Delhi and four regional distributors under him to look after the sales in the entire country. We have also made a road map to make our items easily available in the market,” Grover said.
In December the company is planning to sell around 10,000 AOC brand monitors.
Grover said that they would also carry out a number of promotional activities to create a name in the market. “We have set a target of selling around 2.5 lakh monitors within January 2006 to December 2006. Presently we ship around 25 lakh monitors through OEM and 20 lakh through channel partners,” Grover said.
The company is already having talks with Isyn, AamarPC and Chirag brands in the eastern region, which have captured a large market in the region. The eastern region comprises 25 per cent of the total monitor market in India.
The total monitor market in India is around 3.8 million units. Vendors of branded monitors control about 52 per cent of this market. The remaining consists of local vendors and sellers of assembled units. Last year TPV had a 20 per cent share of the total global monitor market.
Earlier monitors were manufactured at the company's Bangalore plant but with import duty on monitors reduced to zero, the company has started procuring monitors from its five manufacturing units in China.
