BANGALORE, INDIA: Size Zero is fast becoming a new phenomenon for tablet makers. Leading the race could be Toshiba, which launched the so-far thinnest tablet Excite X10 on Sunday.

Not just for being skinny at 0.3 inches, but the tablet has created enough excitement with its ultra light weight of 1.2 pounds, far lighter than Samsung Galaxy Tab or iPad.

The 10-inch screen is reported to have a resolution of 1280×800, and has special technology that supports a thin profile.

CNet described the Excite X10 as sporting a smooth magnesium alloy backside and a glossy 1,280x800-pixel covered in Gorilla Glass. "Toshiba chose to go with a Texas Instruments CPU, instead of Nvidia, outfitting the X10 with a dual-core OMAP 4430-1.2GHz CPU," it said.

However, the price is expected to be announced at the ongoing Consumer Electronics Show.
