Top new features in BlackBerry 10 phones

BANGALORE, INDIA: BlackBerry on Wednesday launched its new BlackBerry 10 platform that brings in a host of new smartpone features that are not even available on high-end smartphone running on Apple's iOS 6 or Android platform.

Here are the new features BlackBerry 10 and phones operating on it bring to the table:

BlackBerry Balance

BlackBerry 10's BlackBerry Balance allows users to separate professional communications and applications from music, photographs and other personal items.

With this feature an IT manager can prevent personal apps from running inside corporate firewalls, but those managers won't have access to personal data on the device. If an user changes job, his or her former company can disable the device's corporate side without affecting personal data.

The Blackberry Balance also lets CIOs control security while allowing the owner to have complete privacy.

Intuitive aggregation of data

The device aggregates information intuitively; it recognises and pulls up all the connections into the contacts, like the last email, last meeting, last tweet... All of this without leaving the hub.

BlackBerry Flow

The company introduced the feature of BlackBerry Flow, one that allows users to move in and out of applications with ease.

BB Remember

BB Remember is meant to organize content into folders and is integrated into BlackBerry Hub. This feature allows users to flag messages, set due dates, take voice notes, add attachments and find contacts.

Story Maker

The company said that more than 70,000 apps are available for users in the BlackBerry World.

BlackBerry introduced Story Maker, an app to aggregate content such as photos and videos into one stream. BlackBerry Story Maker is meant to allow users to create mini movies and share them on social networks.

Changes in BlackBerry Messenger (BBM)

BlackBerry advanced its BlackBerry Messenger (BBM) to include video, letting users move from chat to video. The video chat facility will help users stay connected with family and friends, even at work, claims BlackBerry. Another new feature in BlackBerry Messenger allows users to share screens.
