The company said that the budget estimate is about $7 million and the series will be jointly financed by both the companies. Paddy’s Pages was an official selection to the Chicago International Children’s Film Festival 2007, it said.

Paddy’s Pages, conceived by K.P.Muraleedharan, senior designer and concept artist at Toonz Animation, narrates the tale of Paddy, a typical child of today, who is always inquisitive and has an unbridled hunger for knowledge.

“It is impossible to visualize the imagination of a child when he reads a book. Paddy’s Pages is an honest effort to portray that,” quipped Muraleedharan. his concept has been further developed by the team at Spectra Animation.

The design team in Canada is led by Raymond Lebrun, the seasoned director of the internationally popular preschool series, Toopy and Binoo. Paddy’s Pages chronicles the adventures of a six-year-old, who is fond of reading books.

Paddy finds a book that has a large number of stories except that the stories did not have endings. Paddy realizes it was up to him to find the missing endings to all the stories. He jumps into the book and together with his friends Mobey the monkey, Effy the elephant, Riffy the giraffe and Henry the tiger, Paddy helps solve problems, answers a few questions and find those missing endings.

Paddy applies his new knowledge to his own world outside the book. Problems in the book parallels Paddy’s life in the real world, and the solutions he discovers with his storybook friends will help Paddy solve his own problems.

According to P Jayakumar, CEO, Toonz Animation, “the deal is a momentous occasion for us. Paddy’s Pages is a recognition of our talents. It is a local product perfected for the world to enjoy. We aim to take the series to the masses by early 2011.”
