TomTom intros navigation devices in India

NEW DELHI, INDIA: TomTom, a provider of navigation solutions, announced the launch of three news VIA series devices, of their personal navigation assistant (PND) range, in India.

Jocelyn Vigreux, general manager and senior vice-president of TomTom India said that they are launching TomTom Via 100, Via 120, and Via 125 to bring a higher level of portable navigation device for Indian consumers — with the maximum quality and convenience.

The VIA 120 and VIA 125 models will feature voice control functionality, which lets drivers operate TomTom portable navigation device by talking without compromising on safety.

“We are setting a new standard for the Indian market and elevating the consumer demand with the exciting new Voice Control functionality and the firstly ever introduced Landmark Navigation in India,” Vigreux added.

The company said that user interface is important to them, and that is why they are launching such an innovative product in India, which is a key growth market for them. The new rage will be available next month.

The company also added that it will strengthen its presence in India and plans to scale up  headcount, including engineering team and commercial workforce, to 400 at its Pune facility, by 2012.

Starting from Rs 15,000, the products will be available with retailers such as Reliance Digital, Reliance Autozone, Car Nation, and about 70 more independent car accessories stores nationwide. It will be also available on-line at Flipkart.
