CHENNAI: The Tamil Nadu government would come out with its ITES policy soon, said Vivek Harinarain, IT Secretary for Tamil Nadu. He was speaking during the "The IT Outsourcing and BPO Summit" organized by NASSCOM.

Tamil Nadu hopes to grab a share of 20 percent of the ITES segment which is pegged at $ 21 billion- $24 billion. "Since we are the only state to have 65 percent of SEI CMM certified companies and the largest pool of talent, we are the target choice to provide the best services in the world. Moreover all the big outsourcing players like TCS, Wipro Technologies, Infosys Technologies, Satyam Computer Services and HCL Technologies have presence in the State. All these backed with the ITES policy will make Tamil Nadu the preferred destination for ITES investment," he added.

The government of Tamil Nadu had launched the draft ITES policy in 2002 that aimed to position and establish Tamil Nadu as the Global ITES capital by developing the Human Resources specific for ITES sector, promoting tier II centers such as Coimbatore, Madurai, Trichy, Tirunelveli and Salem. The draft stressed on the need to increase the share of ITES in the State Gross Domestic Product.
