As per the State Government's plans, Rs. 20 lakh will be invested in this project. Mukkur N Subramanian, Information and Technology Minister of the Tamil Nadu Assembly announced the details of the project.

Around 10 services of the revenue department and the social welfare department (that includes the issue of certificates and the distribution of marriage assistance schemes) will be covered by the SMS-based system in the initial phase.

"Setting up of the mobile service delivery platform would be a crucial step towards leveraging the high tele-density in the state to ensure quicker delivery of e-services," as per a policy note of the department.

The State Government is also planning to expand the reach of various government services even in remote locations for which the State's Information and Technology Minister has announced for the establishment of over 2,200 common service centres across the state by the IT department.
