BANGALORE, INDIA: Hotmail introduced a new utility called mail alias which enables users to add email aliases. Aliases are alternative email IDs which can be accessed from the primary account. Emails sent to all these aliases are delivered to your primary account in the Aliased Email folder.
There is an option of receiving and sending emails through the primary as well as the aliased email ID through the common confines of the primary ID. This can be potentially helpful as it eliminates the need for multiple email accounts.
You can now use multiple aliased IDs for official or personal work and still manage them through a single console. As a user, you can add up to five aliases per year to your Hotmail account and up to fifteen aliases in total. The other useful feature of having this is that if the same mail is sent to the aliased and the main mail account then it will just be delivered to the aliased account and not to the primary account thus preventing confusion due to redundancy.
The feature also prevents from mixing up contacts with same names. People with same name would be segregated into the aliased (work) and primary (personal) mail ID.
