THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Lack of entrepreneurship has been one of the impediments in promoting IT industry in Kerala. Now captains of industry have come together to establish a new initiative, the Kerala chapter of The Ind-US Entrepreneurs (TiE).

The awareness that businessmen have a major role to play in policy making of the state government and the inevitability of improving the image of business community among the citizens have motivated the formation of the new chapter. TiE, which would be formally launched on December 4 at Kochi, intends to promote and nurture new entrepreneurs where the government and the society themselves have failed.

Leading professionals behind the new initiative include Rajiv Vasudevan, CEO Technopark, C Balagopal, MD, Penpol Ltd., Achamma Joseph, MD of Soft Systems, Kochouseph Chittilapally, MD of V-Guard Industries, Murali Gopalan, COO of US Software, Jose Dominic, MD of Casino Group, C J George, MD, Geojith Securities, Shivdas B Menon, MD Sterling Farms, S R Nair, MD Team Frontline Pvt Ltd. and KA Joseph, MD, Kerala Venture Capital Fund Pvt. Ltd.

Training programs and seminars would be conducted by TiE with the objective of promoting new entrepreneurs. TiE, established in the US by a team led by Kanwal Rekhi in 1992, has 31 chapters globally and has 8,000 members. There are over a dozen TiE chapters functioning in the country.
