BANGALORE, INDIA: Texas Instruments (TI) has launched the CC1125, a sub-1GHz RF transceiver, which is said to be the industry’s first single chip solution for wireless social alarms and ultra narrowband applications. It targets ETSI EN 300 220 category 1 (ETSI Cat.1) compliance for the European 869MHz band.

ETSI Cat. 1 standard is one of the strictest RF regulations in the world and inorder to address this standard, the CC1125 delivers a 50 percent reduction in system cost and size over discrete designs enabling smaller and more affordable end products, as per the company.

TI also claimed that, the CC1125 can be used in sub-1GHz applications worldwide that require exceptional RF range and robustness, such as long-range wireless meter reading.

It is found to be suitable for systems targeting compliance with ETSI Cat. 1 in the 863-870MHz band as it offers offers a high output power (up to +16dBm) and excellent sensitivity (-129dBm at 300bit/s); advanced RF channel sniff mode, quick start-up and settling time.

The CC1125DK development kit is available for Rs.16,338.80 ($299) on TI's eStore. The kit supports 869.2-869.25MHz frequency band and ETSI Cat 1 compliance. The solution can even be purchased from TI’s distributors. Additional evaluation module kits can be purchased separately to support other frequencies.
