"We are the only company with solutions for all types of broadband - cable, DSL, or wireless. We provide the technology to converge voice, video and data onto one broadband network. We also have applications such as Internet audio and digital still cameras that enable the user to personalize their bandwidth. Currently, we are working on 2.5G and 3G wireless broadband segments. Meanwhile, we are testing our cable modem with few cable operators in India. We might launch this in the first quarter of next year," said, Srini Rajam, Managing Director, Texas Instruments India.

Mr Rajam said that TI had started working on fixed wireless. "While, working with these emerging areas, the company is also planning to increase its manpower and expanding its operations in India. Currently the company has a manpower of 500 plus, which is planning to double it by year 2004. We will also have one more R&D center in Bangalore," he added.

Asked about TI’s investment plans, Mr Rajam said that the company had so far invested around $25 million in India and planned to invest around the same in the next 3-4 years. "We would be utilizing these funds in expanding manpower and having one more development center in Bangalore."
