Thiruvananthapuram gears up for KeralaIT.com

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, INDIA: The Technopark in the state capital of Kerala is readying to host two high profile events next week.

The two events, Kerala IT.Com 2008 and the National e-Governance Programme (NeGP) Advocacy Conference, will be held at infotech park in Thiruvananthapuram from March 13-15.

"Kerala - The IT Destination Hub (Cutting-edge and viable solutions through the use of IT)" would be the theme for Kerala IT.Com 08, said a Technopark statement.

The event will see the convergence of all major stakeholders of IT industry like IT secretaries of various state governments, IT policy makers and decision-makers from the government of India, state governments and industry associations.

Kerala chief minister VS Achuthanandan will inaugurate Kerala IT.Com 2008 on March 13.

R Chandrasekhar, additional secretary, Department of IT, Government of India, will inaugurate the NeGP Seminar the same morning.

The NeGP seminar will focus on factors like service delivery infrastructure and capacity building, Kerala success stories and challenges, IT education, infrastructure and best practices.

The exhibition will have over 100 major IT companies showcasing their products and services.

Some of the participating companies are Sun Microsystems, Cisco, Infosys, Wipro, Intel, NIIT, C-DAC, Sybase, Computer Associates, CMC, IBS, HP, 3i Infotech, DOEACC, K2, Dell, TVS and Core Projects.

Technopark CEO, RK Nair said that the exhibition and seminar will bring some of the major decision-makers in the IT field who will discuss the prime concerns facing the IT industry in Kerala.

Kerala State IT Mission will support the event as part of its efforts to project the state as a preferred IT destination. Wisitex Foundation is organizing the event.
