Thief caught red-handed; 23 stolen PCs recovered

MUMBAI, INDIA: In the second case of this nature, in less than a month, the Mumbai police has yet again confiscated as many as 23 PCs and two LCD systems allegedly stolen from different parts of the city.

Cops also held three accused in this case.

Mohammad Iqbal, one of the accused, was caught while trying to flee after stealing a computer in the Dadar area last week. Two other people—Mustafa Hyder Ali and Mukesh Jain—to whom Iqbal sold the stolen goods, were also held by the police after they interrogated Iqbal.

The cops claimed that these machines were stolen from different shops in Dadar.

Iqbal was trying to flee after making an unsuccess-ful attempt, from a commercial building. We have booked him under six charges of theft in different areas in this particular case,” said Madhukar Sankhe, Senior Sub Inspector of Dadar Police Station.

This is the second case which has come to light in the last one month.

On Jan 9, Chembur Police confiscated as many as 28 laptops, allegedly stolen from different parts of the city.

These laptops were sold as second hand goods in a Lamington Road-based shop. However, the police have failed to make any arrest in this regard.

Later the cops were also able to trace the owners of two of the laptops.
