They're hiring in the time of recession!

BANGALORE, INDIA: Though pink slip has become the order of the day, and there is the fear of more and more people becoming jobless in the coming months, there is some good news too.

Even in this time of recession, some top employers including Google and Microsoft, are looking to hire over 7,000 people, US magazine Fortune said.

"As many big companies are announcing mass layoffs, these 20 top employers have at least 350 openings each right now," it reported.

The Fortune list of the 20 firms that are recruiting even in the gloomy environment include IT gians like Google, Microsoft, Cisco Systems and Accenture and telecom player T-Mobile.

While Google has 350 opening in Mountain View, New York City, and San Francisco, Microsoft, which had recently announced the plans to cut 5,000 job in the next year and a half, is also looking to hire thousands of employees, said Fortune.

According to the report Microsoft is looking for software design engineers, financial analysts, human resources, administrative and marketing and sales talent, particularly in online ad sales.

Cisco has 500 job openings in various locations while T-Mobile has 2,163. And Accenture has thousands of openings in Chicago, Reston and New York, it said.

It is looking for specific IT skills, such as Java, J2EE, industry expertise and government secured clearances. Other companies offering jobs include Wegmans Food Markets, Genetech, Whole Foods Market, Ernst and Young, KPMG, Booz Allen Hamilton and PricewaterhouseCoopers.

Fortune had recently released the list of best employers, in which storage and data management services provider NetApp had topped the charts.
