MUMBAI: Enterprises are having a tough time trying to cope with the demands being placed by bandwidth hungry applications and services on their network enterprise.

Making provisions for all these applications leads to immense network complexity. The solution lies in adopting newer network technologies that aid in countering these challenges without necessarily leading to complexity, says Scott Lucas, senior director, Solutions Marketing, Extreme Networks.

Lucas was talking at Engaged Networks for Intelligent Communication, an event organized by Avaya and Extreme Networks.

He also spoke extensively on the evolution of the networking infrastructure. “Service providers are increasing looking at changes in the way they do business. There is a growing traction for innovations like tailored services. It is a differentiated service model, where data is treated differently from voice. This is done on Ethernet, hence the cost savings can be quite significant,” he said.

Lucas also talked about how Extreme Networks was making networks secure and manageable and enabling things like “virtualization of network”.

The event was attended by CIOs from different companies, who were keen to know more about the latest offerings in the networking space.

Lucas’s demo was followed by a case study from one of the company that had adopted Avaya and Extreme Networks solution.
