BANGALORE, INDIA: How many of you look forward to a day at work? Not really, right? But if you are with Rolta India, you might disagree.
Over 71 per cent of the employees say that every morning, they look forward to a day at work. That was one of the factors that secured Rolta India the second rank in the Dataquest-CMR Best Employer Survey.
HCL Infosystems got the first place and iGATE Patni the third place. For HCL, the year revolved around change in leadership and business models with focus on leadership development. Its philosophy to recruit the best, retain the best and reward the best, seems to have worked wonders.
When it came to recommending the company to close friends, HCL Infosystems scored well with 71.7 per cent saying yes.
As for the pride quotient, 74.7 per cent of the HCL employees said they are proud to be associated with the company. Perhaps, that is the reason only 13.9 per cent of them said they would quit the company for a job offering 20 per cent hike.
That is a huge compliment for any company. Rolta's decision to transform itself from a service- to a solution-oriented company leading to a rejig of the HR policies may not have culminated into a good show in the previous survey, but it has surely borne fruit.
This is evident from the company's jump of two positions on the ladder compared to the previous study.
Companies seem to have realized the need of good corporate governance and furthering it into their organizations by bringing transparency in employee communications.
Over 72.6 per cent of Rolta employees felt the culture of the company created a very positive work environment and that's precisely must be why 75.3 per cent said they have a sense of belongingness in the company. However, SAP Labs India scored 67.7 per cent for its social work initiatives.
When it came to standards of corporate governance, it was HCL with 71.2 per cent. However, 63 per cent of employees of Rolta are happy that their opinion matters in the company.
While scoring 71 per cent, HCL gives the maximum freedom to its employees to take decisions.
And in gender inclusivity, SAP Labs India got 74.4 per cent as the employees feel the company is sensitive to women staff.
HCL scored a huge 81.3 per cent with employees saying they respect its work values and ethics.
