BANGALORE, INDIA: Indian IT bellwether Infosys Technologies, admired for its leadership standards, and announced its biggest transition in three decades by naming a non-founder as the chairman. The company also announced that it is being renamed to Infosys Limited.

The board appointed KV Kamath as new chairman of Infosys and SD Shibulal as new CEO. While the current CEO, S Gopalakrishnan would step up as executive co-chairman and Narayana Murthy would move as chairman emeritus of Infosys.

A peep into the new Infy management

K.V. Kamath: Kundapur Vaman Kamath is currently an Independent Director on the Board of Infosys. He is the non-executive chairman of the Board of Directors of ICICI Bank Limited, India's second largest bank. Kamath has a degree in mechanical engineering as well as one in management studies from the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad. He was awarded the Padma Bhushan, one of India’s highest civilian honors, in 2008.

S. Gopalakrishnan (Kris): A co-founder of the company, has been serving as the CEO and managing director since June 22, 2007. He is recognized as a global thought leader. Kris has received many honors including Padma Bhushan. Kris holds a Master’s degree in Physics and Computer Science from the Indian Institute of Technology, Chennai.

S. D. Shibulal: Shibulal is one of the co-founders and currently serves as the COO of Infosys Technologies Limited. He has over three decades of leadership experience in IT services industry and has played a pivotal role in the Infosys journey and a seminal role in the evolution of the Global Delivery Model that is now the de-facto industry standard for delivery of outsourced IT services. He holds a Master's degree in Physics from the University of Kerala and an MS in Computer Science from the University of Boston.

N. R. Narayana Murthy:  The Founder-Chairman of Infosys Technologies Limited. He founded Infosys in 1981. Under his leadership, Infosys was listed on NASDAQ in 1999. He articulated, designed and implemented the Global Delivery Model that has become the foundation for the huge success in IT services outsourcing from India. He has led key corporate governance initiatives in India. He is an IT advisor to several Asian countries.

The board of directors also approved a proposal changing the name of the company to Infosys Ltd.
