The much awaited Google Nexus 7 goes on sale in India today

BANGALORE, INDIA: The Google Nexus 7, available only in the US market, will finally be launched in India, and will be available in stores starting today.

According to a report on NDTV, the entry level version of this tablet will be available in stores for Rs. 19,999. This may disappoint Indians, as the price of the tablet was expected to be around Rs. 11,000.

However, it is not clear yet if the 8GB or the 16GB units will debut as the entry level Nexus 7 in the Indian market.

Apratim Sharma, Product head, (India) System Business Group, Asus had told CIOL last month that ''Talks are on with our partner (Google ) for the India launch. We may launch the product with a different name and few modifications in specifications.''

Some of the features and specifications of the Google Nexus 7 tablet PC are: 7 inch 1280x800 HD display, Quad core NVIDIA Tegra 3 processor, 1 GB RAM, Android 4.1 (Android Jellybean) operating system, 1.2MP front facing camera, 8GB storage capacity (expandable to 16GB), Wifi, scratch resistant corning glass, near field communication (NFC) and so on.
