MUMBAI, INDIA: Taj Mahal—the seventh wonder of the world will soon go digital.
Come July, tourists visiting the famous mausoleum will now get free Wi-Fi access for the first 30 minutes.
BSNL has already deployed the network, and the telecom service provider is planning to make public the Wi-Fi hotspots next month.
The service will be officially launched by Minister for Information and Communications, Ravi Shankar Prasad on June 16. Anupam Srivastava, Chairman and Managing Director, BSNL, asserted that network installation is complete and the service will be free of cost for the first 30 minutes.
The Wi-Fi hotspots are a part of the Government of India’s larger digitization drive. It must also be noted that the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) has identified 25 monuments across India to set up the Wi-Fi hotspots.
