A BICC provides strategy and delivery capabilities for aligning people, processes and technology with the goal of driving intelligence, insights and better decision-making throughout an organization, said a press release.

The BICC is designed for organizations that consider business intelligence to be priority, but are struggling due to its uneven adoption across the organization, misunderstood uses or underutilization of business intelligence tools, or increasing numbers of "spreadmarts" or spread sheets built on disparate data silos.

"According to Gartner's annual survey of chief information officer technology priorities, business intelligence remained among the top five priorities in 2009 and it was number one in each of the previous four years,” said Rita Sallam, research director, Gartner, Magic Quadrant for Business Intelligence Platforms research report, January 29, 2010.

She further said that chief information officers continue to view business intelligence among their top priorities for improving decision making and operational efficiencies that drive top-line revenue and bottom-line profitability.

Dave Klumb, vice president, Global Professional Services, Teradata Corporation added, “As the hub for business and information technology professionals within a company, the objective of the BICC is to align people, processes and technology to grow analytics into a core competency and help create analytics self-sufficiency.”

“ Teradata Professional Services helps customers capitalize on the promise of business intelligence (BI) by guiding its transformational power with our new consulting services offer," he said

The establishment of a BICC would enable development of a strategy and architectural approach for BI, Integrate enterprise-wide BI solutions for timely analytics and decision support to the business community and deploy a coordinated program that bridges business and technology groups, which avoids disjointed projects.

It would also establish a repository of BI skills, best practices, standards, meta data, and processes that is shared within the enterprise and lower the total cost of ownership.

Teradata Professional Services offers consulting services to help assess and analyze a customer's existing BI environment against best practices captured from field engagements, and then assists in organizing a customer's BICC.  The services could help staff the BICC with knowledgeable, consultants skilled in data migration, data management, BI solution development and analytical application support, the release added.
