It is available globally for enterprise-class data warehouses. Teradata now delivers the same enterprise-class scalability, availability and manageability with the 64-bit SUSE Linux Enterprise operating system, as with the Windows operating system and its own UNIX operating system, UNIX MP-RAS, a Teradata statement said.

Scott Gnau, vice president and general manager of Teradata research and development, said, “With the addition of 64-bit SUSE Linux Enterprise to the list of operating systems, Teradata provides its data warehousing customers yet another choice. SUSE Linux Enterprise further enables the powerful Teradata enterprise data warehouse to integrate seamlessly into even the most complex and open IT architectures.”

Teradata selected Novell and its SUSE Linux Enterprise platform because it provides a full range of industry-leading Linux services to support large-scale enterprises. In addition to making 64-bit SUSE Linux Enterprise available for the database, Teradata already offers tools and utilities products that provide the load and access connectivity to Teradata user applications on both SUSE Linux Enterprise and Red Hat Linux.
