Features: Siemon unveils TERA fully shielded end-to-end cabling
solution in India. TERA exceeds the ISO/IEC category 7/class F specifications
and is known to be the highest performing twisted pair copper cabling system
available.
TERA delivers performance up to 10Gb/s and beyond, far exceeding all performance
requirements for 10GBASE-T. It has a bandwidth of 1.2 GHz per pair and the
highest of any available copper system. It allows for cable sharing-shielded
design and 1-, 2- and 4-pair outlet and plug modularity allow the simultaneous
support of multiple applications over a single cable, administered in a single
outlet.
Future-proof performance and flexibility make TERA ideal for data centers, call
centers, government, healthcare imaging and banking and financial applications,
says company.
Carrie Jane Higbie, global network applications manager, Siemon, said,
"Rising copper prices have led some to explore fiber to the desk
alternatives. Although fiber can provide a future-proof option, it is not
capable of supporting the growing demand for power over Ethernet applications.
“Fully-shielded (S/FTP) category 7/class F copper cabling, such as Siemon's
TERA, is capable of supporting application speeds well beyond 10Gb/s. This
future-proof performance provides an extended cabling lifecycle, driving the
total cost of ownership (TCO) well below that of category 5e, category 6 and
even category 6A UTP," she added.
Rajesh Kumar, country manager, Siemon India, adds, "As enterprises face
difficult network infrastructure decisions, it is a well-established
best-practice to install future-proof cabling solution that's capable of
supporting the next generation of application speeds. The TCO on TERA 10Gb/s
capable cabling is far better than lower performing options."
Accepted by both TIA and ISO, cable sharing describes the practice of running
more than one application over different pairs of a twisted-pair copper
telecommunications channel. In the case of category 7/class F TERA, up to four
applications can be supported with a single cable. This ability is a function of
both cable and outlet construction.
