Tellabs launches 8607 access switch

BARCELONA, INDIA: Tellabs has launched its 8607 access switch that enables providers to offer high-bandwidth 3G services without breaking the bank.

Tellabs showcased the new network solution at the Mobile World Congress event in Barcelona.

The new Tellabs 8607 access switch is a single, flexible solution for seamlessly connecting any generation mobile site to the rest of the network as it includes TDM, ATM, IP and Ethernet.

It also includes DSL functionality without additional hardware.

“The Tellabs 8607 access switch’s size, ability to perform in extreme temperatures and support of fiber, copper, Ethernet and DSL make it the most versatile solution for mobile service providers across the globe,” said Mika Heikkinen, vice president and general manager of managed access products, Tellabs.

The Tellabs 8607 also supports microwave-based backhaul networks. Customers can reconfigure the switch to meet any deployment need.

Interface modules, including Fast Ethernet, E1/T1, ADSL and G.SHDSL, and power modules are easily swapped out.
