Telecom NZ names new CEO for Australian unit

WELLINGTON, USA: Telecom New Zealand CEO Paul Reynolds announced today that David Yuile has been appointed CEO of Telecom's Australian business, AAPT.

"I am very pleased to be able to appoint David Yuile to this role.

"David brings with him considerable experience and knowledge of both the Australian telecommunications industry and the AAPT business, and understands the challenges of sustaining business growth in a complex and changing environment," said Dr Reynolds.

Yuile joined Powertel in February 2005, and moved to AAPT in 2007 as GM Networks. He has been GM Network and Technology at AAPT since June 2008, leading a team of over 600 employees.

Yuile takes up the role from 1 July and will report to Dr Reynolds.

Current CEO AAPT, Paul Broad, will finish his fixed-term contract with AAPT on 1 July, 2011.

"I would like to thank Paul for his outstanding contribution during a period of unprecedented change in the telecommunications industry in Australia," Dr Reynolds said.

"During his time at AAPT, Paul has successfully transformed the business from a predominant reseller, to a leading on-net data, internet and IP voice provider.

"We wish Paul all the best in his future endeavours," Dr Reynolds said.
