Teleca joins the Open Handset Alliance

SWEDEN: Teleca has joined the Open Handset Alliance and will establish global platform expertise for Systems Integration Solutions around Android. With its global reach and scale, Teleca is in the unique position to become a significant commercialization partner in the Open Handset Alliance.

Teleca is pleased to join the Open Handset Alliance and is working closely with other Alliance members to provide Systems Integration Services and Solutions on a global scale. Our early investments in building capabilities around the Android Platform will help us offer our customers fast and secure Android Systems Integration

Teleca has established a significant team of Android experts, and we are ramping up our global teams to offer platform creation and system integration support to our customers to quickly capitalize on the advantages Android brings. We will work with the entire eco-system including handset manufacturers, mobile platform providers, chipset vendors, application developers and Mobile Internet Application Solution Providers.

Teleca's expertise covers the entire product creation life cycle as well as all the stages of creating and productizing the platform. Whether it is creating the baseport, telephony integration, integration and optimization, middleware extension, application development and customization or total system integration & productization, Teleca has the expertise and years of experience in the open OS-Open Source environment that will benefit our customers.

Projects already started

Teleca has been working with the Open Handset Alliance members to enable CDMA implementation on the Android platform. Our office in Germany is anchoring this project in collaboration with other Teleca engineering centers. Our Russian center has already delivered a multimedia client/Java APIs for customers, while we are in discussions with handset manufacturers, platform providers and network operators to help them integrate new solutions based on Android.

Contributing to Open Source

During the past few years, Teleca has been involved in multiple customer projects involving open source-based code. In most cases, the modifications and new software has been contributed back to the respective communities. The ongoing Android CDMA work done by Teleca will naturally be open source as part of the Android Open Source Project.

Scaling according to demand

Teleca is gearing up to meet the demands of our customers and we are ramping up our capacity in our Low Cost Locations like Russia, China, Poland and India to enable companies in the Android ecosystem leverage this important new market opportunity at a lower cost of ownership.
