In conjunction with its Singapore location, Telarix's new office in Mumbai will support the company's global expansion efforts and rapidly growing customer base in the Asia-Pacific region, the company said in a statement.

The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India has described the year 2004-2005 as one of 'unprecedented growth' in Indian telecoms. According to the Indian Department of Telecommunications' Annual Report for 2004-2005, India's telecom sector grew more than 60 per cent from 2002 to 2005.

Mumbai was cited as having nearly 93 million fixed and mobile telephone users, helping make India's telecom sector the second largest among emerging economies.

"Telarix has a proven track record of working with carriers in the region to optimize their interconnect business and increase profitability," said Pete Shah, vice president of Sales for Telarix. "Our expanded presence in this key market ensures that our valued customers in India and surrounding countries receive the superior service and support required for them to capitalize on this unprecedented growth."

Telarix said that its flexible software suite, iXTools, is a suite of software modules that helps carriers reduce costs and increase profitability across their interconnect networks. By analyzing both revenue and cost information associated with telecom traffic in near real-time, carriers can optimize network routing and identify capacity opportunities while ensuring that every call is captured, rated and billed accurately.
