NEW DELHI:Tektronix, a test and measurement focused company, has launched its K15 protocol testing platform targeted towards the network operators and manufacturers. The platform is equipped with application software to test complex third-generation (3G) and existing second-generation (2G, 2.5G) mobile networks.

“This is a part of our broad strategy to introduce new products from time to time in the market. The product has been launched globally about one-month back and now we are doing it in India. As complex 3G networks go live and operate with existing 2.5G and 2G systems, operators must be able to address a new set of quality of service issues faster than ever in order to meet subscriber expectations. This is what we intend to do with this product,” informed Tektronix product manager Enrico Zanoio.

With application software including the real-time multi interface call trace for 3G, 2.5G and 2G networks, the new platform is equipped to address network-related issues and enable faster resolution of quality problems under normal and heavy traffic conditions.

“The Indian monitoring market is pegged at around $ four million per year and we already have about 95 percent of its share in India. We would like to maintain this leadership position by introducing different products in the near future,” said Tektronix business manager Viraj Pradhan.

The product price starts at around $ 50,000 and the pricing depends on the density of a network. “Pricing is very flexible and we have seen good response from the market so far. This product has already been tested by H3G, a subsidiary of Hong Kong's Hutchison Whampoa in the European region and some Indian operators are likely to do so as well,” Pradhan added.
