Tektronix introduces low cost oscilloscopes

Tektronix, manufacturer of oscilloscopes, has introduced two new series of

oscilloscopes, TDS1000 and TDS2000. These come with enhanced features and

capabilities than their earlier series, are portable with more bandwidth (upto

200Mhz) and are of low cost. The TDS1000 is monochrome while the TDS2000 has

colored LCD for each trace and waveforms. They have a simple user interface with

an autoset menu, probe check, advanced triggering, automatic measurements and a

language select. The oscilloscopes are pre-loaded with a help manual that has

hypertext and indexed topics. Complimentary products with the series are

Windows-based software with drag-n-drop features called WaveStar for easy

documentation of the results of experiments and a 200 MHz probe (1 probe per

channel).

TDS1000 and TDS2000 are being targeted to the low-end market users like

educational institutes, quality maintenance and testing and the service

industry. "Our strong focus is on training schools besides manufacturing

units and services sector in India. The new series that we have introduced will

establish a benchmark for performance and ease of use among instruments in the

low-cost oscilloscope market", said Bob Oblack, Manager (Marketing), Value

Oscilloscope Products, Tektronix.






Oscilloscopes are used for electronic designs, trouble shooting and service
applications. Tektronix has 16 channel partners in India for distributing their

products. The R&D facility for Tektronix is at Oregon while their

manufacturing base is at Shanghai. The company invests about 12% of its revenues

on R&D. Tektronix has their sales and service offices in Delhi, Bangalore,

Chennai and Secundrabad.






The monochrome 60 Mhz is priced at Rs 55,000 and 100 Mhz is priced at Rs 72,000;
while the colored 60Mhz is priced at Rs 72,000 and The 200Mhz (4 channel) is

priced at Rs 1.6 lakh.
