SureMote from Tekoia controls smart media streaming devices and legacy appliances using either WiFi or the phone's infrared capability, all from the app. The SureMote Computex demo (NANGANG Sky Dome - booth# 0436) highlights the LG SmartTV and media streaming capability as well as controlling legacy appliances, such as the iRobot Roomba vacuum.

A typical family has four old remotes which are hard to use, non-standard and only control a limited number of devices each. Considering that remote control devices were first introduced by Nikola Tesla in 1898, these devices have not made much progress in more than a century. Developing a universal remote app that is easy to use, hard to lose and works with WiFi and infrared has been a surprisingly hard problem.

Today, with the advent of the Internet of Things (IoT), the SureMote smartphone universal remote app is poised to control almost everything in your house starting with legacy IR appliances as well the new generation of WiFi-driven smart appliances. Using proprietary technology developed by Tekoia, SureMote runs on Android devices and is a platform for development of additional Smart Living functions needed for the IoT.

The SureMote design followed the principle of "Do Not Make Me Think," to create a smartphone remote app that revolutionizes the remote control user experience.

"SureMote is taking the legacy problems of remotes and moving to the future, where the Internet of Things will be controlling so many devices in the home," said Viktor Ariel, founder and CEO, Tekoia. "With SureMote we are focusing on innovation in the user experience and innovative communication technology to create a universal smartphone remote app designed from a user's point of view. We do not see the remote as an afterthought so the design is appealing. It is a painkiller solution for both appliance makers and users."
