Tejas Networks begins Indian operations

BANGALORE: Entering the fast growing market for intelligent optical

networking, Tejas Networks of Bangalore is all set to provide services for the

telecommunication market and develop optical networking products.

Focusing on the development of optical networking systems, Tejas will provide

design and deployment services for building high-speed optical networks in the

Asia-Pacific market. The company, which has signed an agreement for distributing

Sycamore Network’s products in the region, will also build a center of

excellence to support these products. Tejas will develop products for the

existing telecommunications market as well as for emerging network backbone

providers, together valued at $17 billion.

Speaking about the company, Tejas Networks CEO Sanjay Nayak said,

"Intelligent optical networking will allow service providers to build

networks that can scale up to meet the demands of the new Internet driven

economy. According to a recent industry analysis, India’s telecommunications

market is rated as one of the fastest growing in the world."

Apart form Gururaj Deshpande of Sycamore, Tejas Networks has received

investments from ASG Omni and others. Gururaj Deshpande will serve as

non-executive chairman of the board of Tejas Networks.
