rating.

The Level 3 maturity rating, granted under the People-CMM framework developed

by Carnegie Mellon University's Software Engineering Institute, is expected to

enhance key metrics for TechSpan such as new business acquisition, operations

scalability, resource utilization, talent acquisition and retention, and

strengthen software delivery capabilities. TechSpan is simultaneously engaged in

achieving Software-CMM rating, later this year.

TechSpan India, CEO, Harsh Singh Lohit, said, "We, at TechSpan, realized

that people-related challenges of the software business specifically stretch far

beyond recruiting and retention. Agility in responding to continual change in

technological and business conditions was critical to success. The People

Process Initiative for People-CMM has helped TechSpan create an environment

where employee knowledge and skills can make rapid adjustments to changing

customer requirements. While pursuing People-CMM, we have not only doubled our

strength in India, but added competencies in Quality Assurance and Testing

Services (QA), Enterprise Application Integration (EAI), with emphasis on IBM

technologies, Maintenance, Porting and Migration Services. In terms of a

singular measurement, our attrition is amongst the lowest in the industry.

Overall, the People-CMM provides TechSpan with a framework for expansion,

scalability and sustenance of our offshore business."

TechSpan underwent assessment for People-CMM with the Quality Assurance

Institute (QAI), a joint venture of QAI, USA, and the first organization to

offer CMM Assessments commercially in Asia. The assessment process was led by

Lead Assessor Ajay Batra (the fifth accredited joint Lead Assessor worldwide for

Software-CMM and PCMM in the world and the first qualified assessor in Asia),

along with eight members of TechSpan staff.

Commenting on TechSpan's assessment, SEI certified People-CMM Lead Assessor,

Ajay Batra, said, "The Level 3 rating factually confirms my impression of

TechSpan as a vibrant, positive and dedicated company. Its level of maturity is

a result of its belief in ceaseless investments in people and processes."
