Technical specifications of new BMW 3 Series

BANGALORE, INDIA: After its launch in Europe last year, the new BMW 3 Series, widely speculated to be known as F30, is expected to see its Indian launch by end of this month.

The media, including the Web, is already abuzz with a lot of rumors and information about the  premium sedan, which is reportedly styled like the bigger 5- and 7-Series, an exciting news for Indian aficionados of the iconic automobile manufacturer.

The new BMW 3 Series is expected to boast a 8-speed automatic gearbox, with both petrol and diesel variants made available in India.

"The grown-up, tech-laden new 3-series is a big improvement in almost every area and the competition really needs to start worrying," summarizes automobile magazine, Autocar India, in a review.

"Standard on every new 3-series is the Driving Experience Control system — BMW-speak for a wide range of driving modes you can choose from," the review adds, "This system, though already available on the 5- and 7-series, is further enhanced for its 3-series debut by also offering an 'Eco Pro' mode, which tweaks the throttle map to eke out the best fuel economy."

While multiple engine options in both petrol and diesel are available in European markets, India might witness the launch of the petrol models of the five-seater, 320i and 328i, producing 181 bhp and 241 bhp respectively. Also, expect one diesel variant, 320d.
